On August 29th, we invite you to celebrate Blackness and commemorate Black August with us at the NC State fairgrounds.
Black August Pull-Up is a tailgate festival for Black people to enjoy Black music and community from the safety of your car or virtually from home.
One ticket per vehicle gets you and your friends your own tailgate space

We have taken enhanced health and safety measures for you, our artists, and employees. You must follow all posted instructions while attending Black August in the Park Pull-up.
An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and guest with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable.
By attending this event you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.

What are the hours of operation?The Pull Up will start at 4pm and ends at 9pm to accommodate the City of Raleigh's curfew

How many tickets do I need to purchase?One ticket entitles you to have 1 vehicle enter with the no more than the vehicle's maximum occupancy.

What does it mean to purchase a tailgate space and what does it look like?Each space will be approximately 27’ wide x 18’ deep. This is roughly the equivalent of a two parking spaces.

Can I watch the show outside of my car?We are asking that everyone watch the show fom inside their vehicles unless going to the bathroom or to get food. If you are outside of your vehicle, you must wear a mask and stay and be thoughtful of those around you. Due to local guidelines, commingling between spaces is strictly prohibited.

Does everyone in a vehicle need a ticket?No, these events are ticketed by car; therefore, you only need to purchase and present one ticket per car.

How many people are permitted per vehicle?The number of people per car is limited to the manufactor's maximum occupancy

Can I bring an oversized vehicle (i.e. bus, limousine, RV, etc.)?"No, oversized vehicles are not permitted.

How are spaces reserved?Spaces will be assigned by price level (also known as your color zone). Within each color zone, cars will be parked in order of arrival (first come first serve) by our parking team. Please keep your ticket out and ready to show to our staff at multiple checkpoints until your vehicle is parked. You may not save a space for yourself or anyone else next to you.

Are ADA spaces available?Yes, and instructions will be provided at the time of arrival to help with any necessary accommodations.

Can I bring my own food and beverage?Yes! While grills, BBQ pits, open fires, tents and the like are not-permitted, you are welcome to bring your own pre-cooked food and beverages.

Will food and beverages be available on site?Yes. Food trucks and non-alcoholic beverages will be available.

Am I required to wear a mask face while attending the event?Masks will be required for anyone outside of your vehicle.

Will restrooms be provided?Yes, restrooms will be available for your use, but keep reading, this one is important. When travelling to and from restroom facilities, guests are required to maintain social distancing. Masks are required. Your safety is our priority and for that reason, restrooms facilities will be sanitized in accordance with local guidelines.

How will I see and hear the show?Similar to what you would find inside a concert venue, we will have amplified music and speakers set up throughout the event space. A large LED screen will be set-up to help improve the viewing experience so you can enjoy the show from your spot. Where can I buy tickets? Will tickets be available on-site?We recommend purchasing tickets in advance, as there are a limited number of tickets. A few tickets will be available onsite. CREDIT CARD ONLY. No cash accepted.

What happens if my car battery dies?We can help if your battery dies. Please see one of our field attendants. Once we get your vehicle started, you cannot run your engine to charge your battery. Carbon monoxide is poison. You will have to EXIT the theater. (Fees may apply)

Do you accept cash?This will be to the discretion of each vendor.

Are pets welcome?No, you will not be allowed to enter the event.

I’m going with a group, can we park next to each other?"Yes; however, if you wish to park next to another car from your party, you must plan to arrive together. Parking spots will be assigned on a first come first serve basis, with no option to reserve a spot for another vehicle running late. Please follow the directions of event staff at all times.

I have an emergency. Can I leave in the middle of the event?Yes, you may leave at anytime.

Are there vendor opportunities?There are no vendor opportunities available. We have already selected food and beverage vendors to participate.

Why are you all charging this year?COVID 19 has affected our ability to fundraise and secure partnerships that help to make Black August in the Park free each year. We also want to commemorate safely, and quality events are not cheap. To cover the costs of a larger venue, safety measures, staging, and audio we have to charge to cover costs.
